In Case You Missed It - 30 Yr Fixed Rates are up Almost 1%

Of course, they’re still way below the long-term average for the 30 year rate. I paid 8% on my 1 st 30 year loan.   From DS News Fixed Rates Skyrocket in Response to Fed Remarks According to Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey, the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) rose to 4.46 percent (0.8 point) for the week ending June 27, an increase from only 3.93 percent last week and the highest figure since the week of July 28, 2011. The weekly increase is the largest since April 1987. The 15-year FRM this week averaged 3.50 percent (0.8 point), up from 3.04 percent the previous week. While the massive rate hike will certainly dampen some housing activity, Nothaft noted the effect "will be muted by the high level of buyer affordability, and home sales should remain strong." » Read More   - S unil Sethi SUNIL SETHI REAL ESTATE Helping Families Find Homes with Great Schools in Fremont, Newark and Union City. Who would take at the place of Freddie and Fannie

From DS News Senators Introduce Bill to Replace GSEs in 5 Years A bipartisan group of senators introduced on Tuesday legislation to replace Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with a newly created agency. Citing the overwhelming presence of the GSEs in today's mortgage marketplace, Sens. Bob Corker and Mark Warner unveiled a new piece of legislation designed to wind down the enterprises and rebuild the private mortgage sector. The legislation would dissolve Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac within five years of passage and transfer appropriate utility duties and functions to a "different, modernized and streamlined agency." » Read More   - S unil Sethi SUNIL SETHI REAL ESTATE Helping Families Find Homes with Great Schools in Fremont, Newark and Union City. Scandal at Fannie Mae: The Investigation Continues

Go figure, an unscrupulous government agency.       In recent weeks, Fannie Mae executive James Tiegen was fired while the company is currently under investigation for soliciting illegal payments from real estate brokers. Tiegen, who headed the Irvine office of Fannie Mae, was reportedly laid off due to "performance issues", but his involvement in the investigation is still unknown. As mentioned in the article " Did Your Pocket get Picket by a Fannie Mae Employee " posted earlier this month on RE-Insider, the instigation began only a couple months ago, when former Fannie Mae foreclosure specialist Armando Granillo was arrested in L.A. for enticing an illegal kickback from an Arizona real estate broker. In exchange for a foreclosure listing, Granillo expected to receive a kickback of $11,200, a practice that is highly illegal. Granillo is due to face trial this August. What Does the recent increase in rates mean to a Borrower

Image
If you were buying something for $444,000 with 3.5% down. Rates have gone up about 1%, which would equate to $247/month increase in the monthly mortgage or $almost $3,000 annually or$90,000 over the life of the loan. So does it make sense to pay a little more to close the deal?     - S unil Sethi SUNIL SETHI REAL ESTATE Helping Families Find Homes with Great Schools in Fremont, Newark and Union City. The Smart Phone transition to a PDA

The aim of a smart phone should  be a to make me more productive, and make me smarter, or least make people think I am.   Applications should aim to allow me to retrieve information faster, that is they not only find the relevant information and fast, but they help remember what to look for.   The smart phone should always be organizing my data as it comes in so that related topics can be looked at together, and Rolodex and calendars are updated, and reminders are generated.   Visual voicemail was an important breakthrough, but please don’t stop the innovation there. Callers should retrieve personalized greeting based on how I file their number in my rolodex, else use a white pages lookup ala YouMail. A text or email should be presented, detailing where the call originated from, and a transcription of the voicemail should be emailed.   For marketing purposes the phone should enable easy broadcast of text, and photos to various social groups.   What we’re aiming to do is give everyone a

FW: New Haven Board to Establish Superintendent Search Process

I don’t know the inside story, but I know all the progress these last 4 years has to go more to her than the board. Maybe the board should ask the superintendent, if she’ll stay if they all step down.       BOARD TO ESTABLISH PROCESS TO FIND NEW SUPERINTENDENT   UNION CITY (Thursday, June 6, 2013) – The New Haven Unified School District's Board of Education will begin immediately the process of finding a new superintendent, Board President Linda Canlas said Wednesday, after Superintendent Kari McVeigh announced she will take an early retirement.   “I’d like to assure the New Haven community -- particularly our students, their parents and our employees – that we will establish and implement a thorough process and move quickly but carefully to find the right person for the very important job of leading our district,” Ms. Canlas said.   “While the Board hasn’t had a chance to discuss this, I’m certain we will want a process that includes input from the community and our employees, and

Fannie Mae Offering A New Way to Expediate Approvals

By registering offers, Fannie Mae says there will be greater transparency in the process and it will also allow the GSE to be more proactive when working with servicers to complete short sales. Through Fannie Mae's site Homepathforshortsales.com agents can register their short sale offers. » Read More   - S unil Sethi SUNIL SETHI REAL ESTATE Helping Families Find Homes with Great Schools in Fremont, Newark and Union City.
