2005-2006 Year API Scorse out today

Just went through the scores for Alameda, Contra Costa, San Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco County. Check out the easy links for these reports at http://www.sunilsethi.com/API_scores_by_county.htm

The walk away impression is if you want to buy where all 3 schools score greater than an 800 and a decent home less than $1M, your choices are Fremont, Pleasanton, and maybe Cupertino though it'll be smaller than Fremont or Pleasanton. If you can manage the commute, San Ramon's schools are excellent, though they don't make the top ten list in the state.

The Top Elementary Schools in the State were
(boldface indicates northen Calif School)

Faria (william) - Cupertino Union - 1000
Miliken - Santa Clara - 997
Mission San Jose - Fremont Unified - 991
Gomes - Fremont Unified - 989
Dilworth - Cupertino Union - 988
North Star - Redwood City - 987
Hoover - Palo Alto - 985
Oak Avenue - Los Altos - 984
Sleepy Hollow - Orinda Union - 982
Balboa Gifted - Los Angeles Unified - 982
Blue Hills - Cupertino Union - 982

Top Middle Schools
Elkhorn - Lodi Unified - 989 ** (probably the cheapest place to buy a home)
Hopkins Jr. - Fremont Unified - 972
Kennedy Middle - Cupertino - 960
Egan Intermediate -Los Altos - 960
Lawson - Cupertino - 958
Huntington - San Marino - 956
Miller - Cupertino - 954
Blach - Los Altos - 953
La Entrade - Los Lomitas - 952
Crocker - Hillsborough City - 951

** their elementary and high schools are ok, but this middle schools rocks. this is a place best practices need to be studied from.

Top High School
Whitney - ABC Unified (los angeles) - 995
Oxford - Anaheim Unified - 987
Calif. Academy of Math and Science - Long Beach Unified - 949
Lowell High - San Francisco - 947
Troy High - Fullerton Joint Union - 937
Mission San Jose - Fremont Unified - 932
Piedmont - Piedmont Unified - 926
San Marino - San Marino Unfied - 922
Pacific Collegiate - Santa Cruz County Ed - 922
Monta Vista - Fremont Union High - 916

What's intereting to note is how the top elementary and middle school are primarily in northern california, but the top high schools are equally spilt between the north and south. On the surface it goes against the belief a good start leads to a good finish.
