  "E-NEWS" News From the New Haven Unified School District   Board Meeting Tonight, 7:30 pm, Educational Services Center The Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting this evening at the District Office, located at 34200 Alvarado Niles Road, at 7:30 pm.   Free Application for Federal Student Aid Workshop for High School Seniors to be Held on January 22 at Logan The first of two Logan  FAFSA  (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) workshops for seniors and their parents will be held on  January 22nd from 5 - 7:30  pm in computer labs 41 & 43. Students should bring their Chromebooks, required financial paperwork, social security information, 2014 W'2s, and FAFSA PINs in order to submit their applications on the spot. We also have experts here to help with completing the Dream Act.  The workshops are put on by by East Bay Consortium and their staff of trained FAFSA experts and arranged by the Logan counseling team and the College and Career Center!

Since the beginning of the year, we’ve seen more buyers come into the market just like last year, and we’re waiting for more inventory to follow. It will happen but it’s a guarantee that it will not meet demand.   Homes are getting multiple offers. We did on a home in San Ramon on Monday. It received 11 offers and went for close to a $1M which is almost $70k over asking.   We bid on a condo in Newark asking $430k which was priced at a new high, and it received 7 offers, 4 of which were given a counter and should be in contract for about $10k more.   We bid on a condo in Fremont that was asking $479k and it received 20 offers and went for about $30k over.   The winners were removing appraisal and loan contingencies but keeping their inspections because no upfront inspections had been completed.   Though the winning bids had more than 20% down the good news is that they weren’t all cash.     - S unil Sethi SUNIL SETHI REAL ESTATE Helping Families Find Homes with Great Schools in Fremont

From DS News   Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.6 Percent as Payrolls Increase by 252K The U.S. unemployment rate slipped another 0.2 percentage points in December as employers introduced 252,000 new jobs. From DS News   Report: President to Announce Reduction in FHA Premiums President Barack Obama will announce this week a reduction to Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage insurance premiums, according to media reports. Bloomberg  reported Wednesday that FHA will cut its mortgage insurance premiums to 0.85 percent, a 0.5 percentage point reduction. Obama is expected to make the announcement on Thursday in a scheduled speech on the housing market.
