Community: Special Event in Niles this Sunday, August 26th - Major roads will be closed and high pedestrian traffic expected.

Hi Steven Fong,

The Fremont Police Department has issued a special event permit to the Niles Main Street Association for the 48th Annual Niles Antique Fair & Flea Market this Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Several roads will be impacted by the event and closed for several hours.

CLOSED on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
. Niles Blvd. ("J" St. & "G" St.)
. "F" St. (Iron Horse & Niles Blvd.)
. "G" St., "H" St. and "I" St. (Second St. & Niles Blvd.)

The parking lots will close Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. All roads will reopen no later than 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Several roads in the Niles District have been posted with 72 hour "No Parking" notices. Fremont Police will be on-site beginning at midnight to authorize the tow of vehicles left on these roads. The fee to pick up a towed vehicle the following day, ranges from $400 - $600, and can be higher if left at the tow yard for multiple days. The closures are necessary to get vendors in and unpacked before the early crowd begins to show up. In addition several narrow roads throughout Niles have be posted no parking, to allow public safety vehicles ingress and egress access throughout the neighborhood. Fremont Police will continue to be on-site for the entire event and would caution all drivers and residents to obey traffic and parking laws. Vehicles parked in front of driveways, fire hydrants and ADA accessible ramps will be cited and possibly towed. This event brings in several thousand people and vehicles to the small town of Niles and pedestrian safety is a high priority for Police.

Handicapped parking can be found on the south side of "J" Street and on Niles Blvd close to the corner of "J" Street. The Niles Main Street Association has also provided a map of available parking on their web-site at http://niles.org/events/af2011parking.htm.
