2019-2020 Student Enrollment Information
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten enrollment packets are now available.  Families can pick up a packet from the Centralized Enrollment Center at 34200 Alvarado Niles Road.  

Actual appointments to enroll begin today.  Completed enrollment packets, necessary documents, and proof of a physical examination with immunizations required by the State of California must be brought to this appointment to enroll your TK or Kindergarten student.

Enrollment for Grades 1 through 12 will begin March 25.  Those families who wish to request a transfer to another school in New Haven may also submit a request starting on March 25.

Education Funding Rally Planned in Sacramento for April 3

A rally in support of public education funding in California will be held on Wednesday, April 3, from 12:00 -1:30 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol building (10th and N Street, Sacramento).  The April 3 event is specifically designed to bring union leaders, superintendents, and Board of Education members together in their call for funding. Decoto School for Independent Study Open House, Monday, March 25
Come learn about the Decoto School for Independent Study (DSIS).  Meet the teachers and discover how our program may be a good alternative to a traditional school.

New Haven Schools Foundation Earth Day Celebration and Fun Run, Saturday, April 20

Come join the fun for the 2019 New Haven Schools Foundation Earth Day Celebration and Fun Run, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Cesar Chavez Middle School.  New this year is an Earth Day Poster Contest for New Haven Students in grades K-8.  Winning poster contest entries will be announced at the event and later in the Spring put on display at the Mark Green Sports Center. (Poster contest rules and entry forms will be in school offices by March 20.  Electronic copies are available at the NHSF website.  A direct link to the poster contest flyer is here.


In addition to Earth Day activities and celebration, NHSF will hold the annual 5K (run & walk), 10K (run) and kid races (400m, 800m &1600m).  Details can be found at nhsfoundation.org. Race registration is here. Race registration form, which includes a $5 discount per pair of participants is available here.


NHSF is a non-profit raising money for scholarships for New Haven students and grants for New Haven teachers and staff. In 2018, With the support of the community and local businesses, NHSF awarded over $130,000 in scholarships and over $40,000 in teacher grants.

Need your High School Diploma or the prepare for the GED?  Registration for these classes are ongoing

  • Mon - Thurs  8:30 am to 10:30 am

  • Tues & Thurs  12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

  • Mon - Thurs 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm


What to Bring: Transcripts from any high schools you have attended, including countries outside the U.S. If you do not have a copy of your U.S. transcripts, we can request them for you.  Registration takes about 1 1/2 hours.

Class schedules are:

DAYTIME Class -On campus:

  • Tue - Thur 10:45 - 1:45 p.m.

  • AND  One day CPR  9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.


EVENING/ONLINE HYBRID Class

  • On campus: Every Thursday 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

  • AND 4 additional M/W  5:30 - 8:30 p.m. during the class term

  • AND online 2 times/week



Cost: $350.00   (District employees - Email Michelle at mwalkerwade@nhusd.k12.ca.us for discount information!)

Funding assistance available for students taking the training for paid employment purposes.

Alameda County Transition Faire  
We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Alameda County Transition Faire will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the College of Alameda. The Transition Faire is an opportunity for students and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, service providers and school district staff to learn about life after high school. Mission Valley Track and Field Club Sign-Ups Going on Now

The Mission Valley Track and Field Club is a community based group serving Union City and the surrounding areas. The Mission Valley Track and Field Club' goal, in conjunction with the James Logan Track and Field Team and James Logan Cross Country Team, is to promote life skills through the sport of Track and Field.  The Organization serves Youth, Special Olympic athletes, Master athletes and Seniors from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds locally and in the surrounding communities.

Union City Family Center (formerly Kids' Zone)
The Union City Family Center (UCFC) operates a dynamic Family Center, located on the campus of the Barnard-White Middle School.  UCFC Family Liaisons, assigned to specific school sites, expand access to UCFC and partner resources for the community. Liaisons provide case management and resource linkages for displaced/low wage families/youth who receive needed support with shelter, transportation, emergency food, clothing, job training/job search (Highway to Work & Cypress Mandela), financial coaching/taxes (SparkPoint), affordable childcare (Kidango) applying for benefits, and our safe parking lots program for displaced families ~ all co-located at the Union City Family Center. UCFC partners with community volunteers and over 35 community agencies!  


The Union City Family Center is now an Alameda County Food distribution site! Food will be distributed every Tuesday that school is in session from 3:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. UCFC is located at 725 Whipple Road, Union City, CA (on the Barnard-White Middle School campus). Volunteers are welcome!
