HUD and Flood Insurance Funding

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) may not be in business after January.

The California Association of REALTORS (C.A.R.) reported that Congress must authorize funding for HUD by Jan 19. A HUD shutdown could directly impact Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loans and other programs.

Meanwhile, funding for the NFIP expires Feb 2 and requires more Congressional action to keep operating.

More information about funding for HUD and the NFIP is here.

Fremont won't have much impact but areas like Palo Alto and Alviso will be more impacted if Flood insurance isn't available.
