Greetings from Supervisor Haubert Dear District 1, As we head into April, I want to recognize Earth Day. This year, Earth Day falls on April 22, and it offers our community a chance to celebrate our beautiful planet. I urge you all, throughout this month and beyond, to take intentional steps to protect our environment: conserve water, plant a tree in your backyard, bike to school or work, support your local farmers' market. Together, we can work to make our communities thrive and preserve our environmental surroundings. Throughout this newsletter, you will see ideas of what you can do to celebrate Earth Day. Be sure to read the newsletter in its entirety! Send us a photo of your Earth Day activities to be featured on our next newsletter! Use this form to submit your photos by 4/23: https://tinyurl.com/EarthDayPhotosD1 As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org. Sincerely, David G. Haubert Alameda County Supervisor District 1 Washington Health Service League's 70th Anniversary Three years before Washington Hospital opened in 1958, the Washington Hospital Service League was established to support the hospital through volunteerism and fundraising. What began with 59 members has grown to over 620 active volunteers who assist in areas like the special care nursery, surgery waiting room, nursing units, and lobby desk. Our office was honored to have been apart of their 70th Anniversary Celebration. Congrats! Intersect Power Creek Clean Up The Tassajara Creek Clean Up was dedicated to helping conserve natural habitats. Spending over 3 hours cleaning, 2 of our own interns/volunteers, Lakshmi and Anna, worked with Intersect Power to pick up around 200 gallons of trash! The event was a huge success, helping to create a more safe habitat for local wildlife. We are so excited to participate in further initiatives to benefit our community!
