Greetings from Supervisor Haubert

Dear District 1,

As August comes to a close, the school year is already in full swing. Classrooms are alive with energy, families are adjusting to new routines, and our communities are embracing the rhythm of fall. Whether you've just sent a little one off to their very first day, are supporting older students in their next chapter, or are simply navigating the back-to-school traffic, I want to thank you for the many ways you continue to stay connected with District 1.

In this newsletter, you'll find updates on local initiatives, upcoming events, and resources designed to support you and your family as we transition from summer into the busy fall season. As always, if there is anything my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please don't hesitate to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.

Sincerely,

Caltrans will close one direction of Interstate 680 (I-680) at the I-680 and Mission San Jose (SR-238) Separation/Overpass in Fremont for two weekends to perform critical bridge and pavement work. Segment of Southbound I-680 will close the weekend of July 25, 2025, and will close a segment of Northbound I-680 weekend of August 8, 2025.

These 55-hour closures are necessary to safely and efficiently complete key construction activities, including full bridge deck resurfacing and approach slab repairs. This phase of work involves heavy machinery and the resurfacing of the entire bridge deck. This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorists safety. Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project.

During these weekend closures, only one direction of travel on I-680 will be closed at a time with detours set in place. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative routes.
