Forensics Judges Needed for Logan High School Forensic Team Tournament
The James Logan High School Forensics Team will be hosting the Northern California Individual Events State Qualifications, on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Alvarado Middle School. This is an all call for parents, teachers, staff and community members to participate.
The event is a qualifying tournament for the California State Championships. Logan High School Forensics Team must fulfill a 50 judges requirement. If we do not have enough judges at the start of the tournament, the Logan Forensics Team will be forced to drop kids from the event. Logan is sending a large number of students who qualified to participate in this event. We do not want to drop our hard working kids from this next step to the California State Championships.
If you are interested in judging please contact Florence Graham for more information:

Boys and Girls Logan Wrestling Teams Have Award-Winning Weekend
This past weekend, the James Logan High School Boys Wrestling Team hosted the North Coast Section Wrestling Tournament. Logan pride was on display as thousands of wrestlers and their families from across the state descended onto campus. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive as Logan wrestling staff was congratulated on how well the tournament was run.
The Logan Boys Team had a very strong showing. Freshman, Aaron Perez won an NCS title and senior, Jacob Gomez, was a runner-up. Both wrestlers will move on to the state championships. Also moving on to state are sophomore Manovjot Singh, and seniors, Nico Blanco, Jharrel Bruce, and Rolan Bautista. Although the team did not win the pennant, it was a very strong showing for a very good wrestling team.
For the Lady Colts, the weekend was impressive as well. Senior wrestler, Vanessa Tria, became Logan's most recent state champion with a win over the weekend. Seniors Talissa Noriega and Hayley Aguilar also had a strong showing, finishing fifth and sixth in the state respectively.
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Wrestling Team!
Mindful Schools Photoshoot at Pioneer Elementary
Mindfulness, the practice of paying attention to the present moment, has been flourishing at Pioneer Elementary. Teachers have done a good job this year implementing the Mindful Schools curriculum, which teaches students to be aware of their thoughts, emotions, and senses. For this reason, Pioneer was selected to be part of a photoshoot for the Mindful Schools website. After the in-school photoshoot on February 24th, Jamie Aaronson, Director of Outreach from Mindful Schools said, "Pioneer is truly mindful community. The classrooms and kids are amazing!" Stay tuned in the near future to see photos of Pioneer students and teachers on mindfulschools.org.

Eastin Teachers Receive Funding From DonorsChoose.org
Two teachers at Eastin Elementary received a wonderful lesson on persistence! Last year, teachers Beth Morris and Sandy DeMuri, submitted projects to DonorsChoose.org that ended up not being fully funded. They both tried again, resubmitting their proposals this year with fantastic results. Science teacher Beth Morris was able to get her project, "Visualize the World with Molecules, Atoms and Elements", funded while 1st and 2nd grade combo teacher, Sandy DeMuri, received funding for her project 1st & 2nd Grade Engineers at Work!. Congratulations to both!
