New Storage Guide to Keep Your Produce Fresh

The pandemic has been hard, there is no doubt. But one silver lining is that we are thinking more about our food – where it comes from, who is harvesting it, and all the resources required to bring it into our homes. We can help you sustain these new good habits of making the most of your fresh food with our recently updated Fruit and Veggie Storage Guide. The guide, which has been translated into Spanish thanks to our community partner Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, has great tips on how to store your fruits and vegetables to keep them fresher, longer.

Staying Safe this Wildfire Season

The past few weeks have seen smoke from nearby wildfires reach unhealthy levels across the Bay Area. Wildfire smoke contains small particulate matter and other toxic substances that can embed in the lungs and increase the risk of a range of health problems. The easiest ways to protect yourself from smoke during wildfire are by monitoring local air quality, staying indoors with windows and doors shut when possible, and wearing an N-95 or P-100 labeled mask when you go outdoors. Learn more about the health impacts of wildfire smoke and how to stay safe with this resource from the California Air Resources Board.

Even under normal conditions, your home may have unhealthy levels of airborne pollutants. Our regional partner, Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN), offers the opportunity for you to speak with an expert about how you can improve air quality inside your home.
