Are you prepared for a tsunami? Visit the City's new Tsunami Preparedness page to learn what steps you can take now to prepare.
The City of Fremont will be installing new tsunami signage on City rights-of-way in and near the Tsunami Hazard Zone by the end of summer.

Deadline Approaching for Earthquake Brace + Bolt Grants for Fremont Homeowners
The registration deadline is quickly approaching for California's Earthquake Brace + Bolt grant program on March 26, 2025, offering eligible homeowners up to $3,000 toward a residential seismic retrofit. This grant program aims to help homeowners lessen the potential for damage to their homes during an earthquake by "bracing" the crawl space, when necessary, and "bolting" the foundation to the frame. Only raised-foundation wood-framed homes built before 1980 qualify for the program. For income-eligible homeowners, a supplemental grant above the $3,000 may be available. For more info visit the program website at earthquakebracebolt.com.
Also, the Earthquake Soft Story retrofit program is open and accepting applications. An Earthquake Soft-Story retrofit reinforces houses with a living space over a garage and makes these houses more resistant to earthquake damage caused by ground shaking. In this type of seismic retrofit, the foundation is bolted to the frame of the house, perimeter walls of the lowest story are braced, and the walls at the garage door (or any other large opening) are strengthened with plywood, steel, or other proprietary elements.
See if you qualify for one of these programs and then register online.
For more information about earthquake preparedness, please visit the City's website.
About the grant program: California Residential Mitigation Program (CRMP) was created as a joint-powers-authority entity formed by its members, the California Earthquake Authority (CEA), a public instrumentality of the State of California, and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). CRMP is a legally separate entity from its members.
New Below Market Price Home for Sale in Fremont
The City has a brand-new Below Market Price (BMP) home available for sale through the City's First Time Homebuyer Program. The townhome is part of the new Hartford master-planned community in the Niles District in Fremont and is designated for a moderate-income household.
Interested homebuyers are required to submit a lottery application packet and participate in a lottery to be selected to purchase the Hartford BMP home. Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA), a 501c3 nonprofit housing organization, has been contracted by the project developer to manage the lottery application process for the Hartford BMP home.
For more information, including eligibility requirements and lottery application information, visit BAAHA's website or view the property flyer.
