Come Get Your Compost

In honor of International Compost Awareness Week, treat your garden to some high-quality, locally produced compost—your garden will thank you! Using compost in your garden or containers ensures healthier soil, foods, and plants because it provides nutrients, helps retain water, and eliminates the use of synthetic fertilizers. It also helps with problematic soils, like clay and sand, making it easier to work with. Now is a great time of the year to prep new beds and containers and amend existing perennials with compost. Visit any of the eight community compost distribution hubs in Alameda County to fill your bucket and take some home.

One-Stop Shop for Hazardous Waste Disposal

When it comes to household hazardous waste (HHW), it's important to remember that throwing it in the trash isn't the way to go. These items need special care for proper disposal. Since different products require different handling, you might need to visit a few places.

Make it easier for yourself and drop off your hazardous waste at our one-day event! Our HHW events provide a free and convenient way to dispose of a variety of items in one trip. This includes old medicine, electronics, paints, and sharps containers. Start gathering your items and prepare them for drop-off on Sunday, May 25 in Pleasanton. Space is limited, so be sure to register early to secure your spot.
