Caltrans will close one direction of Interstate 680 (I-680) at the I-680 and Mission San Jose (SR-238) Separation/Overpass in Fremont for two weekends to perform critical bridge and pavement work. Segment of Southbound I-680 will close the weekend of July 25, 2025, and will close a segment of Northbound I-680 weekend of August 8, 2025. These 55-hour closures are necessary to safely and efficiently complete key construction activities, including full bridge deck resurfacing and approach slab repairs. This phase of work involves heavy machinery and the resurfacing of the entire bridge deck. This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorists safety. Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project. During these weekend closures, only one direction of travel on I-680 will be closed at a time with detours set in place. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative routes.
