Welcome back to another My Climate Ready Fremont action update! This month, help the planet one bite at a time by eating more plant-based meals 🥗
Take Action! Eat Lower Down the Carbon Chain!
Did you know that red meat, like beef, has a big impact on climate change? Animals like cows and sheep release a powerful greenhouse gas during digestion called methane. They actually "burp" methane. So, eating less red meat has a big positive impact! In fact, swapping a burger for a plant-based meal just once a week has the same impact as taking the average car off the road for over 350 miles! Even swapping red meat for fish, poultry, or dairy makes a difference. And eating less red meat not only helps with climate change, it's also great for your health and saves money.
Try a new plant-based meal this month! Have fun with it! Look for new recipes online and invite friends over to share your new dish.
💡Tip: Think grains, beans, nuts, and veggies. It can be for any meal—from oatmeal and fruit for breakfast to a bean burrito for lunch to lentil curry for dinner.
Share and inspire others! Take a photo of your favorite plant-based meal or recipe and post it on the Eat Lower Down the Carbon Chain action page! Just click on "Post +" to add your photo and see other posts. One recipe will be featured next month (with permission of course!).
