Gardening Inspiration for the New Year

It may be winter, but there are still great opportunities to garden. January is the best time to plant bare root fruit trees – less expensive and more likely to thrive. And, while it's raining, you can gather seeds  – either saving from existing plants or purchasing new ones. With the mild rains, our soils are primed for planting perennials so that their roots can get established. Check out our independent partner nurseries for the best selection of seeds, plants and trees, as well as horticultural expertise. As always, we recommend top dressing your soil with compost to build a healthy foundation for your garden.
